The Cisco® FM1000 Gateway is a rugged industrial-grade network appliance that makes the setup and management of a medium-scale Fluidity system fast and easy. It allows a Fluidity wireless infrastructure to scale to hundreds of radio devices without impacting overall system performance. Scalability up to 1 Gbps The Cisco FM1000 Gateway leverages its powerful network processor to handle a large number of packets per seconds, lowering the load on the Cisco FM radios installed in the field. It is equipped with two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and is able to handle up to 1 Gbps of aggregate traffic coming from a Fluidity radio cluster. Redundancy More than one Cisco FM1000 Gateway can be installed for the same system to provide redundancy and automatic fault tolerance in the system. Multiple Cisco FM1000 Gateways can be co-located in the same data center or installed in different data centers to provide geographical redundancy. Reachability The Cisco FM1000 Gateway helps in connecting different clusters of Fluidity networks that are separated in different broadcast domains. The Cisco FM1000 Gateway will act as the aggregation point for all tunnels and will connect all different portions of Fluidity infrastructure across Layer 3 networks or WANs. Using the Cisco FM gateway, roaming across different clusters belonging to different broadcast domains will happen with zero hand-off time thanks to Fluidity's make-before-break patented technology. Switches, routers, and wireless access points perform very different functions in a network.
A computer network, or data network, is a digital telecommunications network which allows nodes to share resources. In computer networks, computing devices exchange data with each other using connections (data links) between nodes These data links are established over cable media such as wires or optic cables, or wireless media such as WiFi.Switches
Switches are the foundation of most business networks. A switch acts as a controller, connecting computers, printers, and servers to a network in a building or a campus.

There are two basic types of switches to choose from as part of your networking basics: managed and unmanaged.

Routers

Access points
An access point* allows devices to connect to the wireless network without cables. A wireless network makes it easy to bring new devices online and provides flexible support to mobile workers.
An access point acts like an amplifier for your network. While a router provides the bandwidth, an access point extends that bandwidth so that the network can support many devices, and those devices can access the network from farther away.
But an access point does more than simply extend Wi-Fi. It can also give useful data about the devices on the network, provide proactive security, and serve many other practical purposes.
*Access points support different IEEE standards. Each standard is an amendment that was ratified over time. The standards operate on varying frequencies, deliver different bandwidth, and support different numbers of channels.
